During the winter months, the Department of Public Works plows 75 miles of paved roads. Depending on the size and nature of the snowstorm, more than 15 trucks are ready to be deployed to clear the roads. During the spring, summer, and fall, the roads are repaired and swept, and the road shoulders are mowed and cleaned of litter. The Public Works Crew maintains and grooms the beaches, parks, ball fields and the many acres of community-owned grassland. In addition, they are continuously improving the infrastructure .
Open year round, there is a state-of-the-art refuse Recycling Center located in its own complex in the center of the Community.
Water Company
The Hemlock Farms Community Association owns and manages its own Water Company. The Water Company Staff monitors the water system with a state-of-the-art Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) System that controls the five community wells. SACDA maintains the water level in the two one-million-gallon water tanks to provide a far-greater-than-required fire suppression supply thought the Community. The Water Company checks the five well houses daily to assure that all the equipment is functioning properly.
Hemlock Farms water is tested regularly as per quality mandates set for and enforced by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). |
